What if you could spend the summer with incredible people from the Space industry and even meet some astronauts?
The Space Studies Program (SSP), organized by the International Space University, will take place in Oeiras from the 27th of June to the 26th of August and is recruiting volunteers until the 30th of April.
The Space Studies Program 2022 (SSP22) is a program of the International Space University (ISU) taking place for the first time in Portugal this year. The local organization includes the Portuguese Space Agency – Portugal Space and the Instituto Superior Técnico, with the support of the City of Oeiras. SSP22 (https://ssp22.isunet.edu/) is an intensive nine-week professional development course with participants and experts from around the world, coming from various agencies, companies and other entities in the global space ecosystem.
The program will take place from the 27th of June to the 26th of August, at the Taguspark Campus, in Oeiras.
SSP22 is an international, interdisciplinary and intercultural course that will make Oeiras the capital of the space industry during the summer of 2022. It will bring together the largest aerospace organizations in the world, as well as a panel of astronauts and space agency leaders.

Volunteer requirements:
– Fluency in English (preferably English level B2 or above)

All participants will have access to program activities, including classes and social events.
Meals during program activities will be provided.

Relevant information:
– Volunteers will:
– receive training before the program – the prefered skills are not mandatory to integrate a team.
– go through the IT online boarding organised by ISU before the beginning of the program.
– receive a certificate of participation.
– Have the opportunity to attend lectures and activities with a wide number of national and international experts in different Space-related areas.
Volunteer Teams and their roles:
– IT Team (expected volunteers: 5-10):
– Tasks:
– Install software on local computers for program activities (e.g. workshops)
– Aid participants and staff set up their personal electronic devices to access to the program’s online resources.
– Setup and test audiovisual equipment (e.g. projectors, mics, etc.) during classes and events (e.g. opening ceremony)
– Prefered Skills:
– Basic audiovisual skills (e.g. setup projectors, zoom stream, etc.)
– Fluency in English and Portuguese
– Logistics Team (expected volunteers: 3):
– Tasks:
– Aid ISU staff with logistic tasks. For example, coordination of airport pickups and phone reservations of accommodation. This might require interaction with the locals that might not speak english.
– Prefered Skills:
– Fluency in english and portuguese languages
– Academics Team (expected volunteers: 3):
– Tasks:
– Aiding ISU team with managing academic activities (e.g. classes, professional visits) and aiding lecturers during classes
– Preferred skills:
– Fluency in English and Portuguese
– Media Team (expected volunteers: 3):
– Tasks:
– Develop media content (taking and editing photos and videos).
– Aid ISU team during preparation of events of the program (e.g.opening ceremony or astronaut panel)
– Prefered skills:
– Basic knowledge of photography and video making.
– Basic knowledge of designing posters (e.g. canva) for different media platforms.
– Fluency in English and Portuguese
– Reception and General Activities Team (expected volunteers: 3-8):
– Tasks:
– Prepare material for the program (e.g. welcome kits, room indications within the campus, etc.)
– Receive participants and staff in the beginning of the program in the campus and airport.
– Receive and accompany visiting lecturers and guests during the program.
– Prefered skills:
– Fluency in English and Portuguese
